Body Interior – Core Interior Instrument Panel Engineer. Looking for experience in automotive interior instrument panel systems and injection molded plastics, with focus on seamless passenger airbag systems.
What you'll do...
+ Manage and author generic engineering core documents with absolute focus on delivery of robust design templates and failure mode avoidance by applying engineering disciplines including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, PDP and RQT specifications.
+ Champion and develop global design standards and solutions
+ Interface with cross-functional teams, attribute teams, purchasing, designers, and R&A to assist in the development of a commodity strategy that delivers the highest quality at the lowest total cost.
+ Provide technical guidance and coaching to program engineers at the pre-launch, validation, and launch phases of their program
+ Benchmark best practices and processes (internal and external) to maximize product effectiveness
+ Develop and foster working relationships with suppliers to develop new technologies, assess current capabilities to support program fits, and drive continuous process improvement.
+ Support current model program teams to drive quality improvements by performing root cause analysis, identifying solutions and prevent recurrence.
+ Champion projects to develop and integrate new technologies into Ford’s cockpit of the future

Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field of study
+ 5+ years of automotive or engineering experience
+ Experience working in interior design and release, with experience in all program phases, from PS to launch

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Recognized as having technical expertise in instrument panel systems, with demonstrated capability through delivery at the program level
+ Advanced problem-solving skills and high technical aptitude in interior trim systems
+ Plastic injection molding, vibration welding, PAB weakening experience
+ Wrapping technologies: IMG/L | cut, sew, wrap
+ Functional knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, Digital Buck (Vis Mock-up), 8D’s, DFMEA’s, and GD&T
+ CAD capable (Catia, 3DX, or similar)
+ Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships, achieve cooperation, and influence priorities of technical experts and other key partners
+ Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution, and management reviews
+ Demonstrated ability to apply engineering disciplines for failure mode avoidance.
+ Prototype build and execution experience
+ Understanding of geometric tolerancing and design for variation
+ Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach/coach/mentor & document technical knowledge
