Product Applications Engineer - Hansen

Reporting to the Global Sales Manager, the Product Applications Engineer is responsible for applying their technical background to specify and optimize the best product solution for customers. In addition, this role will be responsible for answering technical support e-mails and phone calls from Hansen customers. Hansen Technologies is looking for someone with a technical background that wants to leverage their technical capabilities to grow their understanding and experience into a sales role. The Product Applications Engineer will use the applications engineering and technical support role to learn Hansen products and the industrial refrigeration industry, while growing their exposure to sales and training underneath our sales engineers, with an eventual upgrade opportunity to Sales Engineer position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete project take-offs to provide the best Hansen product solution that adds maximum value to meet the customers’ needs for new construction projects.
• Research and document Hansen vs. competitor product offerings & capabilities to help build and maintain technical competitive analysis.
• Assist external customers with technical support e-mails and phone calls to provide best ease-of-doing business service from the technical team.
• Creation of technical documents (bulletins) and training documents.
• Facilitate customer training programs
• Help train Hansen customer-service and new engineers on core Hansen product knowledge.
• Shadow & learn sales best practices and procedures from Hansen sales team.  
• Some travel will be required for customer training and sales shadowing <10%
• Engage and have a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Maintain technical support database

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• 2 or 4 year Technical Degree or 3-5 years of relevant technical experience.
• High technical aptitude
• Analytical and Problem-solving abilities
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy
• Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word
• Strong communication skills (written & verbal)
• Desire to engage with customers
• Industrial refrigeration experience is a plus
• Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve set targets
