About the Job
Position overview This role focuses on helping to craft innovative, community-focused newscasts, breaking out of traditional molds to create memorable content that resonates with viewers. You will collaborate closely with field crews, fellow producers, digital teams, editors, and on-air talent to help deliver a cohesive, high-quality news experience across all platforms, including broadcast, streaming, and web. Responsibilities Collaborate with video editing staff, ensuring high-quality output, efficient time management, and timely task completion. Ensure daily asset management and clear archiving processes, collaborating with IT/Engineering teams to maintain sufficient storage and system performance. Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with field crews, editors, and production teams to ensure seamless newscast production. Utilize clean, modern graphics to enhance the storytelling experience and ensure that visuals complement the news content. Troubleshoot technical issues related to in-house editing systems and workflows, including asset management on Grass Valley Stratus, SGL, and Nomad archives. Oversee and monitor video file transfers, ensuring proper routing of materials for broadcast, streaming, and web use. Work in all stages of newscast preparation, including scriptwriting, graphic creation, and coordination of video elements. Develop and execute original content ideas that align with audience needs across all platforms. Collaborate with the digital team to ensure alignment across broadcast, streaming, and web content. Stay informed on industry trends to continually enhance creative storytelling methods and video production techniques. Other duties as assigned. Key qualifications Minimum of 3 years in a fast-paced newsroom environment. Strong writing, editing, and visual production skills. Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple tasks, including tight deadlines and frequent changes. Demonstrated ability to innovate beyond traditional newscast formats, with a passion for storytelling that connects with audiences across platforms. Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Expertise in using graphics, video, and modern storytelling techniques to engage viewers. Experience in video editing for broadcast and digital platforms, with proficiency in asset management on Grass Valley Stratus, SGL, and Nomad archives. Familiarity with newsroom and digital content systems, as well as industry-standard production software. Preferred qualifications Proficiency with newsroom content systems and digital distribution platforms. A visionary approach to graphics and video storytelling, with a focus on user experience and platform strengths. Ability to manage complex workflows involving multiple video assets, ensuring clean archiving and asset retrieval across systems.
