Purpose of Position/Summary: The incumbent works as a Rapid Response Team(RRT)/Produce Safety Assistant with the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) FoodProtection Division (FPD). Under the supervision of the RRT/Produce SafetyProgram Manager, this person acts as an assistant for the Produce Safety Progamas well as the RRT in order to complete duties efficiently and fill gaps asneeded. The incumbent will: -- Provide a wide range of administrative assistanceto two programs within the Food Protection Division. -- Act as a liaison betweenprogram or department administration, state agencies, and other stakeholders. --Research and prepare various reports for manager. -- Communicates with thepublic or other agency representatives and directs incoming correspondence tothe appropriate individual. -- Reviews and inspects incoming documents foraccuracy, completeness, and to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state,and local rules and regulations. Obtains necessary approvals if needed. --Coordinates clerical and administrative functions. -- Assist in RRT programdevelopment and process improvement to include complaints, environmentalassessments, recalls, tracebacks, sampling, training, and exercises. -- Assistwith development and participate in RRT food and feed emergency exercises aswell as the the Food Safety and Defense Task Force meetings. -- Assist withdevelopment and distribution of educational materials. -- Support retail food,manufactured food, and produce farm inspections. -- Support and assist with foodsample collection and swab sample collection. -- Assist manager with ProduceSafety Program Standards to ensure compliance. --Assist with managing theProduce Safety Farm Inventory. -- Conduct specific projects and other duties asassigned. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: None Difficultyof Work: This role will work within generally accepted management and programguidelines that may be of a repetitive nature and/or with restricted scope.These programs involve several variables that are interrelated. Responsibility:The individual will work with employees in the programs as well as otherprograms with the Division and with other agencies or departments as well as thegeneral public to interpret program policy and procedures and maintiancoordination of work. The individual will receive specific instructions onunusual problems and must refer all deviations from the norm to themanager.Results are reviewed for soundness of judgement, adherence todirections, and technical competence. Personal Work Relationships: Theindividual will be expected to partner with agency personnel and relatedstakeholders working towards completion of assigned duties. Exceptional customerservice is provided to agency partners and/or the general public. PhysicalEffort: This role performs work in an environment where sitting for extendedperiods of time should be expected and wil include some travel and field workwhich may involve walking, bending, climbing. Working Conditions: The positionworks in Central Office in a standard office environment, but will be expectedto assist in the field as well
