This grocery store position earns a competitive wage of $48,000 to $52,000 a year. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PRODUCE MANAGER
A Manager of the Produce Department is reasonable for all the Produce department needs. You will coach, mentor, and address staff performance issues in a timely manner, while also training department staff on regular duties, safety, customer service, efficiency and maintain training checklists with clearly stated expectations and standards. You will work with the Produce Assistant Manager and Produce Buyer to ensure they are placing the day-to-day orders with established suppliers within the guidelines set forth and build relationships with suppliers and wholesalers to secure high quality produce in alignment with department objectives for sales, margin, and customer service. This role requires careful attention to market conditions and expectations within our network of suppliers.The Produce Manager will lead the produce team while setting all policies and procedures within the Produce department. You will ensure the Produce displays are replenished, rotated, and culled several times daily, while also spending time trimming, washing, and bundling produce as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-year previous experience managing employees.
- 1-year previous purchasing experience for a fresh department preferred.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, reach, and climb ladders.
- Ability to reach above shoulder height occasionally.
