Shift Details:
1st Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Job Purpose:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing materials and supplies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring that high-quality products are acquired at the best possible prices. This role encompasses coordinating external purchases from initial quotes through to billing, while maintaining effective communication with vendors to meet the company's requirements.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage vendor purchases and cultivate positive working relationships with suppliers.
- Develop and establish new supply sources as needed, including negotiating terms and setting up accounts.
- Hold suppliers accountable for delivering materials and services as agreed upon.
- Track orders and customer-supplied components to ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the arrival of supplies with other departments.
- Create and distribute purchase orders efficiently.
- Obtain quotes when necessary and actively explore cost-saving opportunities.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Provide regular updates to the business regarding delivery schedules.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand and fulfill their needs.
- Ensure all paperwork, records, and documentation are accurate and complete.
- Follow and adhere to safety regulations and work rules.
- Assist the accounting department with invoicing discrepancies.
- Research new products and vendors to educate the sales and estimating teams.
- Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Positive, "can-do" attitude with a strong focus on customer service.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with vendors and team members.
- Ability to read and interpret purchasing-related documents such as catalogs, technical manuals, and specifications.
- Proficiency in basic math and strong organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines on projects of various sizes and complexity.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and daily business needs.
