Position Overview
A world-class global procurement function will be a central pillar in delivering this new operating structure. A more centralized approach will enable significant value creation and leverage on over $2 billion of group spend. The scope of the role is broad and will require both proven technical and leadership skills for the right candidate to succeed. As a key partner to both the procurement, commercial, supply-chain & finance teams the role has broad organizational exposure.
Relationships and Efficiency will be constituent parts of the role, so good all-round commercial acumen are essential as well as being highly analytical. Whilst the role will be Denver based it will be global in nature with team colleagues being based primarily in Europe & the USA.
What you'll do
Previous experience of working in a senior category management role in a highly international environment are essential to enable the right individual to hit the ground running. Strategic sourcing, retail or supply-chain backgrounds could all be considered relevant to this environment. Transformation exposure would be a distinct advantage.
- Directs and leads purchasing and supply management activities for multiple spend categories
- Delivers and sets the strategy for category cost reductions, supplanted with year-over-year productivity improvements in TCO while maintaining or improving product quality and supplier service levels; is the final point of approval for the strategic sourcing process
- Facilitates and leads cross-functional teams with key stakeholders in member organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans
More specifically the role will be responsible for:
- Champion and secure Total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions for category groups
- Oversee development/execution of strategies through the sourcing process for specific category groups of spend
- Ensure alignment globally working with regional category managers
- Oversee the process to select and manage suppliers
- Measure and track internal performance within each spend category
- Monitor strategy implementation
- Drive annual productivity improvements in each spend category
- Develop an expertise in the Category Group spend categories
- Attract, develop and retain talent
Who you are
An employee in this position, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following:
- MBA or Masters (optional)
- Successful, 7+ year track record within Purchasing
- Previous experience with assigned category
Technical / Functional
- Advanced sourcing toolkit and supply base management
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- World class supplier relationship skills
