About the Job
JOB SCOPE:
The Process Technician is responsible for ensuring that the injection molding machine, tooling, materials, and equipment operate at maximum efficiency with a goal of no unscheduled downtime and zero defects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinates priorities and production schedule with Supervisors, scheduling, and Set Up Technicians
• Efficiently start, stopping, programming, and optimizing an injection molding machine and process using decoupled molding methodology
• Address calls from quality and operators regarding part, process, or machine issues
• Differentiate and troubleshoot problems related to equipment, machine, process, material, and mold to initiate repairs and implement corrective actions
• Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild end of arm tooling as well as program basic operation of the robot
• Reduce costs and improve scrap rates by continuously improving job functions
• Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety standards and housekeeping guidelines
• Confirm all machine process parameters are operating to master setup sheets
• Document changes to process parameters on to revised master setup sheets, parameters change logs, process check sheets, SPC charts, etc.
• Drive reduction of scrap through problem solving defects such as shorts, flash, burns, etc.
• Assist in training new Process Technicians, Operators, and Setup Technicians when required
• Use basic measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, pyrometers, etc.
• Participates in job specific training and helps provide training to others in need
• Verify the correct material is adequately prepared for injection molding
• Performs mold changeovers (pull/set) as safely and efficiently as possible
• Ability to safely work with cranes, slings, hoists, chains, and forklifts
• Complete basic machine setup: heats, pressures, speeds, timers, and clamp/core/ejector settings
• Safely perform proper mold clamping, ejector hook up, plumbing, and install of mold
• Set up equipment such as thermolators, hot runner controls, valve gate units, etc.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED; degree a plus
• 3-5 years of experience in injection molding setup and troubleshooting
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Certified on forklift license required
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Must demonstrate reliability by always maintaining an excellent attendance record
• Must be willing to stay current with technology through continuing education
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to stand at machine for the entire shift; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
