Your Role:

Sigma has an opening as a Process R&D Engineer at ourMiamisburg, OH location! In this role the successful candidate will supportplant operations including regular review for ongoing productivity, efficiency,and safety. Assist plant personnel in developing engineering solutions toproduction and operations problems. Provide engineering perspective in planningproduction related process and facilities modifications. Design and implementthe process equipment for gas reactions. This individual will ideate newproduct concepts, innovate solutions by utilizing the principles of processchemistry and chemical engineering, and create workable, sustainable productionknowledge with moderate independence.

Support operations including regular review for ongoingproductivity, efficiency, and safety.

Proactively identify process operating problems andopportunities for improvements and develop solutions. Proactively interact withplant and R&D personnel to identify problems and opportunities.

Process and project solutions reflect innovative,efficient, and cost-effective techniques and approaches.

Design and develop the equipment model for gas chemicalreactions and evaluate hazards.

Investigate alternative technology available to solveproblems or provide advantages.

Maintain working files of plant design and operationincluding required process safety management information and workinginformation to facilitate future plant expansion.

Take the lead in justifying the project to management toobtain approval. Develop project requirements, scope of work, technical design,cost justification and support through the approval process as assigned.

Provide timely, professional analysis and recommendationsfor engineering information and services requested.

Interact with customer (end user), maintenance andmanagement to assess need.

Evaluate customer request reviewing/interpreting code,policy, procedural and regulatory requirements to provide thorough designbasis, supporting calculations, drawings and specifications as required.

Document calculations and assumptions used to identifyand size equipment based on production and/or business needs. Review/verifycontract engineering process design packages for completeness and accuracy.

Personally or in conjunction with CAD designers, completeprocess design drawings (PI&D\'s, Material and Energy Balances, ElectricalClassification)

Manage project schedule and costs against schedule andidentify deviations to customer and management in a timely manner.

Develop scope change documentation, with accompanyingcosts, for management review and approval.

Facilitate project closure with startup, validation,regulatory, and documentation tasks as scoped (required).

Manage quality control, procure necessary contractorservices, material, and equipment to support capital project and processobjectives throughout project schedule.

Inspect completed work, delivered materials, andequipment received to ensure adherence to specifications bids and quotes andissue purchase orders as required.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors in chemical engineering or process engineeringor other equivalent engineering field with 5%2B years of experience in a chemicalindustry.

Masters in chemical engineering or process engineering orother equivalent engineering field with 3%2B years of experience in a chemicalindustry.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in chemical engineering or process engineering orother equivalent engineering field

Experience with stable isotopes.

Experience with gas handling chemical facility.

Extensive understanding of engineering principles andadvanced technical engineering skills including gas distillation design andoptimization

Ability to read, interpret, summarize, and implementpolicies, codes, standards, and regulations.

Experience handling high temperature and pressureequipment.

Familiarity with CAD and project scheduling software

Effective oral and written communication skills

Effective project scope conceptualization skills

Disciplined demonstrated documentation skills.

Technical PC software and hardware skills
