This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, and services. - Salary starting at $80,000/year depending on experience
- Develop new processes, technologies and techniques to achieve plant production goals. Survey and research new technologies to improve costs and product quality.
- Support the Manufacturing team to ensure that the production processes and unit operations are run at optimum conditions.
- Serve as an advisor and resource to management with regards to technical issues in manufacturing.
- Optimize production by analyzing processes and compiling de-bottleneck studies.
- Generate overall material and energy balances for the process and each unit operation to aid in understanding how changes will impact the process and in determining the impact on building utility systems.
- Recommend appropriate changes to equipment design and configuration to achieve optimization goals.
- Assist the Manufacturing and Project Engineering groups in new technology transfer and implementation
- Maintain OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) measure and uptime data on critical plant equipment
- Work with the Manufacturing Manager and Quality department to audit Manufacturing process and other processes as required.
- Work with the Manufacturing Manager to implement & improve existing Lean principles across the entire site.
- Serve as a technical advisor to both Manufacturing and Management:
- Provide guidance and recommendations to the Manufacturing department to minimize costs and meet quality standards.
- Work closely with Production to ensure the process is set up to provide maximum output levels and efficient running of the facility.
- Work closely with the Manufacturing Manager and Utility Operators to optimize the Effluent Water recovery system.
- Research, investigate and provide consultation to management with regards to technical manufacturing issues.
- Assist in design of plant expansions or reconfigurations
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret equipment manuals, engineering drawings, technical procedures and professional journals.
- Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from peers, supervisors and subordinates.
- Ability to perform calculations consistent with the professional practice of engineering.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Understands and implements the company quality policy and system as it applies to their position, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other quality documents.
- Understands and implements the plant, facilities, and equipment requirements of IATF16949 & ISO 14001.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with at least 3 years of chemical experience.
- An advanced degree or additional education is an asset.
- The employee must be a self-starter, good communicator and be able to coordinate multiple projects involving numerous persons, departments, and groups inside and outside the company with minimal supervision.
- Competence with a personal computer is required.
- Must have good analytical skills and should be detail oriented.
- Must be able to work in a team and follow deadlines.
- Must have good leadership and communication skills.
