About the Job
- Develop and optimize e-beam lithography processes for the fabrication of edge-emitting lasers and VCSELs.
- Monitors SPC data and maintains process control.
- Maintains process step-wise yield and investigates yield issues in the unit process and is tasked with developing/implementing corrective actions.
- Characterize/optimize process and develop control plan and OCAP.
- Works on developing continuous improvement processes/activities to reduce scrap, improve process capability, reduce cost as well as decrease cycle time.
- Responsible for designing/executing engineering experiments.
- Responsible for writing process specification documentation.
- Trains Process Technicians on unit-processes.
- Collaborates with other functional groups, including Operation, Equipment Engineering, Process Integration, Design, Supply Chain, etc. to achieve business unit/organizational objectives.
- Leading teams to resolve technical issues involving more than one process area.
- Train engineers on general engineering practice.
Education & Experience
Required Minimum Education
4 Year college degree (Bachelor or equivalent)
Expected Minimum Years of Related Experience
10+ years
Skills
- Strong e-beam lithography process experience.
- Have broad knowledge and in-depth understanding of photo resist chemicals, photo lithography processes and tools
- Knowledge of general semiconductor wafer processing and engineering practices.
- GaAs/InP semiconductor processing or optoelectronics device experience preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering statistics.
- Knowledge of semiconductor lasers is preferred.
- Good written/oral communication skill.
- Fluency in MS Office suite as well as JMP or other statistics software.
- Project management skills
Working Conditions
- Will be exposed to areas where hand tools and power tools are being operated
- Will be exposed to areas where hazardous chemicals or gases are stored
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment per semi-conductor protocol/requirements
Physical Requirements
- Work in a class 100/1000 clean room for extended periods
- Wear full cleanroom attire (smock, mask, etc.)
- Work with and/or around chemicals (such as solids and acids)
- Stand for up to 4 hours at a time
- Lift up to 16-30 Pounds
- Push/Pull up to 16-30 pounds
- Sit for up to 4 hours at a time

The role will involve driving NPI projects and supporting the transition of new processes and products from R&D to production. The Engineer will maintain process control and yield objectives and contributes process development initiatives in collaboration with other groups. This person will lead teams on tasks that span over multiple process areas. He/she will also provide insight on general process engineering practice to the team and mentor other engineers of lower level.
