Job Summary:
The Process Development Technician plays a crucial role in advancing and fine-tuning manufacturing processes and procedures. Collaborating with engineers and scientists, this position focuses on enhancing process efficiency, quality, and yield in a production environment. Acting as a vital link between the process engineer and the operator, the technician participates in designing experiments, conducting tests, analyzing data, and solving problems to ensure seamless and successful process development.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Process Development:
· Assist in the execution of experiments to develop and refine manufacturing processes on cutting-edge thin film deposition equipment used in the fabrication of semiconductor devices, such as PVDs and Lasers.
· Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, quality yields, and flow in accordance with business needs and requirements.
· Assist Engineering team in application development and scale-up of major programs.
· Recommend/implement equipment and/or process modifications and upgrades for continuous improvement.
· Train plant personnel on equipment operating procedures and work instructions related to manufacturing processes.
2. Data Collection and Analysis:
· Collect, record, and analyze data from experiments and process trials.
· Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings, including graphical representations and statistical analyses.
· Interpret data trends and make recommendations for process improvements.
3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
· Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment used in process development.
· Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functions correctly and perform routine maintenance.
· Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance staff.
4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
· Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
· Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain product consistency and reliability.
· Document and track changes to processes and procedures in accordance with company policies.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and production, to support process development goals.
· Provide technical support and training to production staff on new or modified processes.
6. Continuous Improvement:
· Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
· Education: Associate’s degree in engineering, electronics, chemistry, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
· Experience: 2-4 years of experience in process development, manufacturing, or a related field. Experience in thin films is preferred.
Skills:
· Proficiency in operating manufacturing equipment.
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Familiarity with data analysis software and statistical tools.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
· Ability to stand for prolonged periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery.
Working Conditions:
· Works in a manufacturing or production environment.
· Ability to work in a clean room environment with gowns, nets, boots, etc.
· Requires shift work (12 or 10 hours) and weekends along with overtime as needed to meet production demands.
