Job DescriptionThis is an exciting time to join the Eurofins Genomics LLC process development group. The company is rapidly expanding oligonucleotide manufacturing to support the increasing demand of molecular diagnostics. Process Development Scientist will work directly with some of the biggest companies in life sciences to manufacture and develop oligonucleotides (oligos) and support ever evolving needs. Eurofins Genomics LLC is a leading manufacturer of Oligonucleotide primers/probes/assays in addition to being a key supplier of oligos for other diagnostic applications.
The Process Development Scientist will be an owner in area of expertise (oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, organic chemistry, and quality control). This position reports directly to the Director of Oligonucleotide Chemistry
- Hands-on expertise in preparing chromatography and analytical techniques throughout the product development lifecycle, from early research to on-market support diagnostics
- Demonstrated experience purifying, analyzing, and characterizing complex oligonucleotides and related analytical methods.
- Ability to develop innovative analytical methods for reagents and assay performance, applicable in R&D and Operations; supporting scale-up and launch efforts
- Ability to design and execute advanced troubleshooting experiments in coordination with collaborators; demonstrated experience developing creative assays to understand and detect system defects
- Ability to support documentation transfer, specifically of prototype methods and documentation from research to development and manufacturing
- Serve as a subject matter expert and provide expertise across R&D departments (oligo synthesis & purification, assay development) and operations
- Document all assays and results in a standardized, accurate, traceable, and timely manner
- Perform mentor type duties including the training of more junior employees
- Adhering to cGMP/cGLP documentation procedures according to FDA specifications
- HPLC method development for specific DNA/RNA modifications, scales, lengths, and purity
- Customization of method and mobile phases to maximize yields while maintaining quality
- Develop new downstream workflows for automated larger scale purification process
- Develop and implement other purification processes (PAGE, Cartridge, etc) that expand portfolio for purification
- BS + minimum 5 years/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Manufacturing experience and comfortability being in a production role
- Work with nucleic acids
- Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work both independently and in constructive groups
