About the Job
Position Purpose:
The Process Control Technician is responsible for assisting and supporting Production and Maintenance activities as they relate to the manufacturing processes. This encompasses working with Quality assurance and control to measure the processes, collect data, and make process corrections including assisting with scheduling of corrective and preventive maintenance and being able to utilize the work order/PM system.
- Actively participate in Safety programs and drive safety culture.
- Develop, implement, and lead department training program.
- Follow up on issues related to operator root cause.
- Provide process assistance when needed.
- Drive equipment process care and red tag processes.
- Prioritize work requests in order of equipment criticality, as directed by supervision
- Perform duties in keeping with set standards and specifications such as calibration of load cells and other instrumentation items.
- Responsible for tagging parts to be sent out for repairs as well as filling out the proper paperwork relating to repair work.
- Work closely with shift mechanics on problem resolution.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.
- Responsible for safe work habits and ensuring that all equipment operates in a safe manner.
- Aid in training of new maintenance technicians
- Act as a point of contact for outside vendors and contractors on services pertaining to electrical controls, software, PLCs/Drives, electronics upgrades etc.
- Work with Controls Engineer: Responsible for updating electrical schematics edits and or additions also storing them in company database.
- Work with Controls Engineer: Responsible for all Network drives additions and troubleshooting also working with and being a liaison between IT and plant.
- Assist Plant engineers, Process engineers and Process technicians on electrical/electronic projects and upgrades.
- Work with Controls Engineer: Responsible for PLC and Drives upgrades and program edits/changes also responsible for MOCs and documentation for the changes.
- Assist engineering in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for control system failure and improvements.
- Assist Manufacturing Manager with root cause analysis, data collection and summary reporting.
- Work closely with Quality Control Technician to ensure that product specs are being met.
- Assist with the securing of hours to fill vacancies as needed.
- Assist with any production gaps as needed.
- Coach manufacturing personnel to operate equipment efficiently minimizing or eliminating waste generation.
- Develop, implement, and communicate work instructions, procedures, and other documentation as necessary, including all necessary daily checks as determined by area manager.
- After hours support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Education
- High School Diploma minimum, Associates degree in a technical field preferred
- Excellent problem-solving capability and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Creative mindset with attention to detail of process, product, and material design
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good organizational skills including ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Must be available for afterhours emergency breakdowns and assist maintenance whether it be remote or onsite help.
Physical Effort: |
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, work with operators. |
Work Environment: |
Manufacturing environment exposure which requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment. |
