About the Job
A full-service law firm in the Bethesda area is seeking an associate attorney to work in the Estates and Trusts practice group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of estate administration and probate matters from inception to resolution.
- Provide legal guidance and support to clients regarding the probate process, including will contests, estate litigation, and trust administration.
- Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and court filings, with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conduct legal research and provide sound legal opinions on estate matters.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to ensure smooth case management.
- Assist clients with estate planning needs, including drafting wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
- Stay current on changes to probate law and related regulations to provide the best representation to clients.
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain a professional demeanor.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience administering estates in Maryland, DC or Virginia.
- Possess the following abilities:
- Prepare fiduciary accountings
- Perform complex tax research projects regarding income tac and estate and gift tax
- Administer probate estates
- Prepare estate, gift and fiduciary income tax returns
- Excellent organizational, communication, and client relationship skills.
- License to practice law in Maryland or willing to waive in.
- Preferred LLM in taxation or current enrollment in LLM program
- Strong work ethic
