The Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences is one of four academic departments in the College of Education (COE). It is comprised of three major programs: Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS), School Psychology (SPSY), and Special Education (SPED). The Department offers degrees from undergraduate to master's and doctoral, as well as licensure and endorsement programs. The Special Education and Clinical Sciences Department is involved in collaborative efforts among all COE departments and institutes to support research across the College, outreach activities, and core requirements for the master's and doctoral programs.
Position Summary
The University of Oregon’s Communication Disorders and Sciences program in the College of Education seeks to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill periodic instructional and supervision vacancies. Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years.
Clinical supervisors will provide clinical instruction and/or supervision in clinical or professionally-related community education/service settings to students in the Communication Disorders and Sciences program. Clinical Assistant Professors/supervisors focus their training and instruction on the practical application of skills necessary to engage in a given profession They are expected to demonstrate and share the expertise of their practice and to contribute to coordination roles within these settings or for the program.
Instructors teach primarily undergraduate level courses and lecturers teach primarily graduate level courses in the Communication Disorders and Sciences program. Instructional duties include course preparation, teaching, preparation and evaluation of student assignments and exams, and maintenance of office hours.
Topic areas for instruction and supervision may include hearing/hearing screening, augmentative and alternative communication, brain injury and cognitive rehabilitation, acquired adult language and motor speech disorders, speech fluency, communication delays and disorders and interventions for speech sound production, using oral and written language, preliteracy skills, reading comprehension and social interaction and other related areas.

Minimum Requirements
Instructor
• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology or terminal degree in related field.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• Hold or able to obtain Oregon licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Teaching and/or professional experience in one or more of the topic areas listed above.
Lecturers
• PhD in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• Hold or able to obtain Oregon Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Teaching and/or professional experience in one or more of the topic areas listed above.
Clinical Assistant Professors/Supervisors:
• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology or terminal degree in related field.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• Hold or able to obtain Oregon licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current CPR certification.
• 2 hours of continuing education in clinical supervision
• 9 months post Certification
• Demonstrated expertise, effective mentoring, teaching, and/or supervision in clinical/ K-12 educational settings (e.g., having a leadership position in K-12, mentoring graduate students or recent graduates, teaching seminars/ workshops; running support groups)
• Demonstrated evidence of academic or clinical program leadership and/or coordination (e.g. led a school/hospital committee, coordinated development of new policy and process for IEP development).
Professional Competencies
• Demonstrated potential to contribute positively to our diverse community and to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills that will enhance community relations and support graduate student training.
Additional professional competencies for Clinical Assistant Professors/Supervisors:
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
• Competency communicating with other clinicians and clients who are diverse in background.
• Competency working with clients who are diverse in background.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for Instructors:
• Experience in classroom teaching.
• Three years' clinical experience post-Master's degree.
Preferred qualifications for Lecturers:
• Previous successful experience with the course(s) and relevant experience in university-level instruction.
Preferred qualifications for Clinical Assistant Professors/Supervisors:
• Experience in clinical education or CF supervision.
• Three years' clinical experience post-Master's degree.
