Description
The High School Teacher Intern will complete child care activities and provide support as delegated by Teachers:
- Class Procedures
- Interact with students to promote learning through play
- Maintain a safe, warm, and nurturing classroom environment
- Greet families and children
- Exhibit age appropriate expectations
- Assist teacher with implementation of classroom activities and daily schedule
- Actively supervise and engage with students
- Fill in daily logs
- Record meal counts
- Cut food as needed to developmentally appropriate size
- Use a quiet calm voice during nap
- Promote a cooperative team effort and supportive attitude towards co-workers
- Floating Rounds
- Cover for staff breaks
- Ask if supplies are needed
- Ask how you can help
- Wipe noses
- Wash hands
- Restock
- Diapering supplies
- Cleaning supplies
- Class materials
- Clean and sanitize
- High touch point areas
- Class materials
- Indoor play equipment
- Shared spaces/equipment
- Tables before and after meals
- Assist in the office
- File paperwork under direction of Administrative Assistant
Qualifications
Must be enrolled in the second year of or have completed a two year career-technical program in child development or early childhood education or be a high school senior and also enrolled in a college credit program in child development or early childhood education.
Work Permit Required for students under the age of 18
Basic child development knowledge preferred

Required Credentials, License and/or Certifications:
Child Abuse Recognition training within 60 days of hire.
CPR, First Aid and Communicable Disease Management training required within 90 days of hire.
Responsible for completing 6 hours of specialized training every year
