PRN Groundskeeper-Methodist - UnityPoint Health

Under supervision and direction performs the turf, ornamental maintenance, grounds, parking lot, driveway and sidewalk maintenance including mowing, fertilizing, trimming, irrigation, snow/ice/sleet removal, asphalt patching and overall grounds-keeping of all the Unity Point – Des Moines properties.

Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department by regular, reliable attendance.
Demonstrates ability to operate the motorized and manual equipment assigned to the Grounds Department.
On a daily basis maintains the main entrances, grounds, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks in good repair and clean of trash and debris to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
On an ongoing basis perform parking ramp maintenance including: cleaning, sweeping, washing of ramp, snow removal, painting lines, ADAAA Signage, gates, floor joint repair, and assist with parking improvement projects.
Fence repair
Retention pond maintenance
Playground upkeep and improvements (day care, Lynn Cutler Park)
Observes and practices safety regulations and procedures, including but not limited to OSHA and DNV, in the care and use of equipment and tools.
Removes snow, ice and/or sleet from Unity Point-DM parking lots, driveways and sidewalks utilizing

Education:High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or two Years of experience.

Must eighteen (18) years of age or older

Experience:  Working knowledge of the care for a wide variety of plant, tree and shrub materials.  Working knowledge of operation and maintenance all equipment used in a grounds-keeping environment. ·Working knowledge of spraying and fertilizer calibration. Working knowledge of irrigation systems.

License(s)/Certification(s):  Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Ability to obtain the ornamental and turf pest control pesticide applicators certificate within 1 year of employment
