About the Job
A financial management company in New York City is currently seeking an experienced Finance professional to join their team as their new Private Equity Controller. In this position, the Private Equity Controller will be responsible for playing a critical role in supporting the growth of our diversified asset management platform, focused primarily on our private equity business.
Responsibilities:
The Private Equity Controller will:
- Work with the Head of Fund Accounting to design and implement financial and operational best practices to support the growth and evolution of the platform
- Build and oversee the fund accounting function including internal and outsourced providers
- Research and design strategies and systems to improve efficiency as it pertains to accounting and financial reporting
- Oversee the preparation of the quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, marketing letters, performance reporting, capital calls and distribution notices
- Perform management and incentive calculations, expense accruals, budgeting and forecasting
- Effectively liaise with investment professional, legal and compliance, business development, and operations to ensure proper controls are in place to support current and future business
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in Fund Admin, Public Auditor, Fund Accountant, and/or related function
- Bachelor's Degree
- Private Equity experience
- Microsoft Excel proficient
- Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- CPA or parts passed
- Distressed Debt experience
