About the Job
The Riverside County Flood Control Water Conservation District has an opportunity for a Printing Technology Specialist II assisting the Watershed Analytics & Digital Media Services divisions in Riverside.
The selected candidate will perform skilled visual and graphic communication production duties which include the full range of responsibilities in multiple areas of print technology, as follows:
- Preparation - developing original items to be printed, or configuring them in a form that may be reproduced; or,
- Reproduction - duplicating or printing original items, which may involving all or part of the configuration needed to enable reproduction; and,
- Finish - rendering the printing product ready for use, shipment or storage; and to do other related work as required.
Competitive candidates will possess intermediate to advanced experience using Adobe products (Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, and Acrobat). Additionally, applicants with work experience in printing services or a similar environment, such as FedEx Office, are encouraged to apply.
The Printing Technology Specialist II class is the full working level in the Printing Technology Specialist series and is characterized by the assignment of a variety conventional press, digital printing or graphic design production work. Incumbents in this class have a broad understanding of printing technology through their training and experience, with enough knowledge of their assigned duties to solve unusual as well as commonplace work problems. At this level personnel may have significant expertise in one or more aspects of the work, but are required to perform journey level duties in all areas of printing technology.
Meet The Team
The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District provides for the control and conservation of flood and storm waters and for the protection of watercourses, watersheds, public highways, life and property from damage within its boundaries.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(Incumbents in this series are expected to perform work in multiple areas of printing production, which generally includes, but is not limited to the following.)
•Answers inquiries and completes orders from contractors, engineers, and the public regarding engineering maps, drawings and photos.
•Participates in the filing, indexing and maintenance of all recorded and unrecorded maps, plats, plans, photographs, and other records.
•Print, scan, and copy jobs in accordance with instructions on reproduction ticket.
•Assists in the inventory and organization of all supplies.
•Assists other team members to increase efficiency in job processes and production.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough Knowledge of: Methods and procedures of ink based press and high-speed digital printing processes; industry standard software used in graphic and visual communications; finishing and bindery operations.
Ability to:Operate the full range of printing and reproduction equipment used in printing technology including personal computers, file servers and computerized interfaces for printing production equipment.
Option I
Education: Graduation from a recognized college with an Associate's Degree in Graphic Communications/Production, Visual Communications or related printing technology course work;
AND
Experience: One year of full time experience employed in a printing or graphics technology position with duties equivalent to those of a Printing Technology Specialist I with assigned work that included both developing or configuring originals to be printed, and duplication or printing of original items.
Option II
Education: Completion of a career certificate program in Graphic or Visual Communications/Productions or closely related printing technology field consisting of at least 18 semester or 27 quarter units from an approved college;
AND
Experience: Two years of full time experience employed in a printing or graphics technology position that included assigned duties equivalent to those of a Printing Technology Specialist I with assigned duties that included work both developing or configuring originals to be printed, and duplication or printing of original items. (Additional related course work beyond 18 semester or 27 quarter units may substitute for up to 1 year of the required experience on the basis of 9 semester or 14 quarter units equaling 6 months.)
OR III
Experience: Four years of full time experience beyond training level employed in a printing or graphics technology position with assigned duties that included both developing or configuring originals to be printed, and duplication or printing of original items.
NOTE: Qualifying education/coursework does not include vocational training programs (such as ROP) or non-accredited commercial training schools where no college credit is awarded.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
- Tier I (Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60): Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08/24/2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions. The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent.
- Tier II (Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60): Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08/23/2012 through 12/31/2012; 2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside. The employee contribution is seven (7%) percent.
- Tier III (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62): Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013. Effective July 1, 2023 employee contributions are 7.25% and will increase to 7.75% effective July 1, 2024.
A new member is defined as any of the following:
CalPERS refers to all members that do not fit within the definition of a new member as "classic members".
Contribution rates are subject to change based on the County of Riverside annual actuarial valuation.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
