Our Opportunity
GPJ is looking for a Print Production Supervisor to join our team at our Smyrna, TN facility.
This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Smyrna office location a minimum of 5 days per week.
Your Role
As the Print Production Supervisor, your role encompasses various responsibilities related to the staff responsible for physically producing graphic items. Your primary responsibility is to lead, train your team effectively and determine the necessary working hours for the print production staff to meet the workload demands. Additionally, you aim to minimize the outsourcing of graphics production work while ensuring a balance between GPJ's profitability and our employees' capabilities.
Another key aspect of your role is fulfilling job timelines and deadlines. This involves identifying potential challenges in upcoming production tasks, finding creative solutions for unique requests, ensuring the availability of standard materials, and setting achievable goals for your team. You maintain clear communication with all relevant stakeholders, both upstream and downstream, regarding department workload and any necessary changes.
This role serves as a subject matter expert in graphic production, providing construction and print suggestions to meet our clients' expectations effectively. In addition,, you will handle department time tracking and PTO management, provide training, engage in continual learning and research to enhance your skills, and tackle any additional tasks assigned by the Graphics Production Manager.
Your Skills
- Effective communication, both written and verbal.
- Troubleshooting of Printing and Finishing equipment with a generally high mechanical aptitude.
- Computer skills including Spreadsheets and video conferencing with ability to work in Mac and Windows environments.
- Full understanding of RIP softwares, ICC profile generation, color discernment, graphic production methodology, terminology, and effect.
- Develop creative solutions that will help achieve desired results.
- Organize, track, and document all production items to assure the entire production workload for the department has been finished completely.
- Identify areas or methods that could be improved in the print production workflow.
- Manage regular department meetings within print production to keep the team current on project workload overall.
- Maintain equipment to ensure production quality as necessary.
- Work well in a deadline-driven and frequently stressful environment.

Experience & Education
- A minimum of 5 years of Graphics Production related experience.
- An ability to communicate clearly in a timely fashion verbally and through written text.
- High competency in graphic design software, mainly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Color theory and management experience.
Travel & Mobility
- Ability to travel 5%
- Ability to work irregular hours in addition to normal business hours, to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed
