Job Requirements

Summary/Purpose

• Design and implement efficient processes to manufacture steering systems, compliant with safety, quality, environmental, and customer requirements while meeting profitability goals

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

• Conduct research and provide design of new processes to meet customer expectations
• Establish safety features for the manufacturing processes and methods
• Develops drawings and specs to define materials, machines, tools, and jigs for the manufacturing processes
• Provides cost analysis and quotes for new or additional manufacturing processes
• Develops timeline charts to communicate and track process implementation progress
• Follows CPC process, forecast and control budget, and aid in the capitalization process
• Specifies equipment characteristics, layout, process flow, cycle time and automation level for processes
• Works with other functional areas to prepare the facility to sustain process operation
• Assists in the assembly of/and equipment preparation, readiness / installation
• Implements the necessary countermeasures to poka-yokes process
• (If required, provides support to equipment calibration / verification)
• Confirms that process implementation is capable, reliable, sustainable, and efficient within operational targets
• Performs risk analysis to assure process continuity throughout the life of the product
• Recommend and assist in creation of spare parts lists, effective set-up, and maintenance procedures
• Participates in the troubleshooting of problems associated with the manufacturing process
• Execute manufacturing process trials to train and proof process feasibility to meet targets
• Provides / Supports APAQP process documentation as required (Rev 0)
• Support internal and external audits
• Support manufacturing improvement Kaizen teams, and supplier development tasks as necessary
• Work daily/weekend overtime when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties Changes shift due equipment availability scheduling
• Perform other duties as assigned to achieve departmental objectives provided

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Job Qualifications

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency with industrial controls and sensors, vision systems, Industry 40 automation, robotics, measurement devices, PLC, CNC controls, tooling (procurement and performance), machine tool processes and fixture design
• Experienced with automated, semi-automated, and manual automotive assembly equipment and cell design with Lean Manufacturing approach, JIT, or equivalent
• Sound understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical circuits and controls
• Proven proficiency of GD&T, Laboratory Results Interpretation, and applicable materials specs
• Strong organizational skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously
• Knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems
• Creativity to implement immediate, simple and effective solutions to (arising or chronic issues) / (problems)
• Analytical skills / critical thinking for troubleshooting issues; mathematical preference to describe problems, performance or design conception and analysis Statistical rigor for data collection(Talk in true numbers)
• Knowledge of TS16949 or equivalent applicable requirements

Education and Experience

• BS in Engineering (ME or EE preferred) plus minimum 10-15 years experience in metal removal and/or close tolerance assembly manufacturing

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Able to walk approximately 3 – 7 miles per day
• Perform repetitive motions while walking or standing
• Be able to interact with other personnel inside or outside the company
