What We Are Looking For:
As a Principal Technical Project Manager, you will work with the project team to provide technical expertise during key parts of the deployment process. You will ensure design reviews are conducted comprehensively while providing technical support to customers on ESS requirements and other design needs as required by Stem. There are various applications for ESS deployments that require a resourceful individual with a strong background in power electronics, controls, protection schemes, networking, and typical utility generator requirements and their impact on operations.
You will be the technical resource assigned to a number of projects in coordination with the project managers.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Project Management, Technical Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Software Development to ensure complete and detailed engineering requirements are understood for every project.
- Review customer plan sets to ensure compliance with ESS installation requirements and Stem operational requirements. This involves reviewing civil, electrical, and structural designs for compliance with installation guidance from OEMs and Stem's operational requirements.
- Support the creation of Communication Network Drawings specific to each project, created by the drafting team.
- Create documentation to support lessons learned from customer installations to mitigate repeated mistakes.
- Effectively coordinate with the client and internal cross-functional resources while troubleshooting site issues.
- Coordinate internal resources to develop accountability and clarity in scope and timeline for each stakeholder.
- Special project assignment and management for bespoke projects, as they occur.
- Be available for field visits to validate installations or help troubleshoot installations at the request of customers, along with programming meters, relays, or other control devices and troubleshooting other site issues.
- Work with equipment suppliers for technical support and commissioning troubleshooting to expedite getting systems online.
- Attend periodic project meetings - internal and with customers.
- Create checklists and supporting documentation to streamline support and provide QAQC for installations.
- Work together with the commissioning engineering team and/or Remote Operations Centre to expedite provisioning the Stem hardware and get telemetry working at the site.
- Help to define and refine internal processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience successfully supporting energy projects, from pre-sales to Operations.
- Experience working with Battery Energy Storage System suppliers and/or inverter manufacturers.
- Experience in field commissioning of inverters, monitoring and control devices such as DAS equipment, meters, relays, RTACs, specifically SEL devices.
- Minimum 6 years' experience in the power or renewable energy sector.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in project engineering and/or field experience.
- Strong written, verbal, and customer account management skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives.
- Motivated to continue learning new hardware, software, and other technology to provide better technical solutions to support Stem and its customers.
- Ability to understand and communicate both technical and business information.
- Able to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Travel: 25%
This position is based in Broomfield, CO, or Remote.
This is a salaried exempt position, M-F, with additional weekend work as required.
Salary Range:
$109,200.00 - $163,800.00
