Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and seasoned Principal Systems Engineer based in Bridgeton, MO. The chosen candidate will have the responsibility of meeting the specified contract technical performance requirements. They will employ an interdisciplinary systems engineering process to ensure customer and stakeholders' needs are met throughout the entire life cycle of a system, emphasizing high quality, trustworthiness, cost efficiency, and schedule compliance. Moreover, the candidate will consistently demonstrate sound judgment, technical expertise, and effective communication with engineering and management stakeholders. This position, located in Bridgeton, MO, comes with a competitive salary of approximately $145k and provides hybrid work options.
Job Responsibilities:
- Acquire a deep understanding of requirements, specifications, and customer expectations for electro-optic (EO) systems/sub-systems.
- Lead and coordinate technical activities for electrical, mechanical, and software engineers in the development of EO systems that fully meet requirements and customer expectations.
- Conduct or support EO sensor modeling and testing during the design phase.
- Utilize EO sensor boresighting methodologies and ruggedization techniques in design practices.
- Conduct trade studies to support sensor selection and design EO sensors/systems.
- Support the selection of components for the EO image chain (sensor through processor to display).
- Lead the evaluation of EO suppliers, write supplier specifications, and define Statements of Work (SOWs) for acquiring EO components, subsystems, and services.
- Proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve program risks and issues, starting early in the development cycle.
- Mentor and coach other engineers, providing technical knowledge and assistance.
- Lead major problem resolution efforts and support regaining or attaining customer confidence.
Job Responsibilities Part II:
- Manage architectural design, requirements engineering, systems engineering documentation, risk management, and verification and validation.
- Explore alternative concepts and use simulations to predict system performance.
- Enforce the systems engineering process and integrate it into program plans.
- Lead a group of engineers on a technical activity, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
- Continuously improve processes and efficiency proactively.
- Provide labor estimates and schedule input for design assignments.
- Drive the program design to meet cost and design-for-manufacture requirements.
- Participate in the preparation of highly technical proposals.
- Communicate effectively (both written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and customers as required.
- Interact with technical management, professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of additional education and experience.
- Knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and oral).
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Ability to travel occasionally in CONUS and OCONUS, if required.
