Principal Satellite Communications Engineer - ManTech

ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Expert Satellite Communications Engineer to join our team in the Reston, VA location. This is an onsite position.
The successful candidate will travel worldwide to deploy, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain satellite and other communications systems and networks, and remotely support system and network monitoring troubleshooting and maintenance when not traveling.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Traveling worldwide to install and configure new systems and networks as well as upgrade, maintain, and recap existing systems and networks, including all infrastructure and related components
+ Training in-country technical support personnel to perform Tier 0-1 troubleshooting and maintenance on parts of deployed systems, both in-country and remotely
+ Communicating with in-country personnel remotely, while not traveling, to troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2-4 issues and documenting issues and resolutions appropriately
+ Working with network management personnel on integration issues to maximize system performance
+ Designing and updating in-country and worldwide satellite and communications architectures
+ Performing load analysis of systems and communications links to ensure the entire network is functioning properly and can support future expansion; evaluating performance and recommending improvements
+ Supporting and improving the processes and procedures needed to provide real-time technical support for deployed systems and networks and providing early warning for potential issues
+ Interfacing with third party vendors for monitoring, troubleshooting, tracking, and resolving issues and preventing potential future issues
+ Working with quality assurance/testing personnel to define acceptance criteria for each release cycle and testing communications systems as needed
+ Preparing and presenting briefings to the Sponsor as required
Basic Qualifications:
+ 15+ years of relevant satellite, worldwide communications, and network engineering experience
+ Ability and willingness to travel overseas 25% - 50% of the time
+ Strong experience traveling worldwide and installing, configuring, and pointing satellite communications equipment, particularly Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and engineering reliable and secure communications networks
+ Strong experience working with satellite communications providers to obtain, monitor, and support equipment
+ Strong Network administration experience, including DNS, routing, and firewall configuration
+ Strong experience monitoring satellite communications equipment and networks to resolve potential issues before they create outages or otherwise interrupt communications

Clearance Requirements:
+ Must have an active/current Top Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
+ Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
+ Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
+ Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
+ The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
+ The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
