Overview:CAES MIssion Systems is a leading supplier of integrated RF solutions and high power, solid state broadband transmitters for EW and Radar applications and antennas and precision positioners both for stand alone aperture and positioner requirements as well as integrated sensor systems across many high performance applications.
Our division is experiencing exciting growth and is recruiting an Principal RF Engineer to add to their RF engineering group. The Mission Systems engineering team is very strong, encompassing over 100 engineering professionals including systems, software, RF, power amplifier, antenna, mechanical, reliability, test engineers and other specialties, located in Woburn, MA as well as across several other sites.
As part of our dynamic engineering development team, you will design, develop and test sophisticated RF/Microwave Antennas and RF feeds. Designs, plans and oversees the design of wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency planning, test equipment layout, parameter definition and ancillary equipment. This position provides the circuit designs based on the performance specification, schedule, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. Define System Architectures to meet requirements and perform System/Sub-system Analysis using Microwave Office/ADS, HFSS, MATLAB or other simulation/analysis tools.
You combine a solid theoretical background in RF/Microwave theory with creative and critical thinking.
Responsibilities:YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design RF circuits using simulation tools such as: Microwave Office, Visual System Simulator, HFSS, ADS
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Test, tune, debug and optimize prototype circuits and components to meet specification requirements and manufacturing produce-ability requirements
- Write test procedures
- Troubleshoot circuits on test bench and simulation
- Generate technical volumes for proposal efforts
- Partner with the organization in the scheduling of development projects, including process development, fixture design and implementation, material procurement and customer interface (design reviews)
- Assist Product transition from Engineering to Manufacturing, including writing Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP)
- Provide mentorship to less experienced Engineers
- Ability to work in a team environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Eight (8) + years of experience in RF Design
- Eight (8) + years of experience with AWR/ADS/HFSS circuit simulation experience or equivalent
- Eight (8) + years of experience understanding RF parameters: S-parameters, Noise Figure, Intercept point, Compression, Spurious and Phase Noise
- Master's in Engineering and 3+ years of experience in the technical areas stated above
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Bachelor's in Engineering and 10+ years of experience
- M.S. Engineering and 5+ years of experience
- Experience in RF Design
- Strong analytical and test skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills to interface with key internal and external customers
- Requires a degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness to design and deliver highly advanced solutions
- Ku and Ka Band surface mount design experience and Multi Chip Module experience strongly desired
- Detailed experience with RF/Microwave design and techniques and development of integrated RF/Microwave assemblies
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing and harsh environmental constraints
- Skilled in integrating filters, switches, amplifiers, limiters, and isolators
- Background in defense industry
- Active Security Clearance
Salary Range: Pincipal RF Engineer: $ 131,320.98 - $203,254.76 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
