Overview:
Since GitHub Copilot was initially launched 2.5 years ago, not only it is the world’s first at scale AI developer tool but also the most widely adopted. We continue marching successfully toward our vision to be the AI assistant to assist developers in the entire SDLC; and being ubiquitous across developer tools, both 1P and 3P, conversational, personalized and trusted by enterprises. As we are looking to accelerate the amazing growth and stay ahead of the competition, we are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead our expanding effort on modeling focused on developer scenarios. This role will drive multi-model strategy across product teams within GH and MS, work with strategic model providers (OAI, Anthropic, Google and others) to evaluate key integration scenarios across GH product portfolio inclusive of Copilot, work with client experiences to apply new model capabilities in new and existing experiences. This position requires a deep technical, hands-on Product Manager that is familiar with code, with AI models and techniques, and requires a high degree of creativity and critical thinking. This person will work across many groups and teams, and drive conversation and discussions with executives. The role weaves together customer knowledge, technical know-how and always with an eye towards delivering high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities: •Influences and drives engagement with cross-functional internal partners, external partners, including early adopting customers, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders to gather input and garner support for product/service vision,strategy, and roadmap for multiple features across divisional boundaries. Provides deep thought leadership and is sought out to address questions and challenges from group managers and other leaders.
• Knowledge and expertise of working with applied science, AI tools, processes and techniques.
• Knowledge of customer research. Defining and prioritizing customer scenarios and experiences, identifying problems, outlining concepts and riving validation. Creating differentiated developer experiences across development tools. Anticipate, identify, and mitigate blockers to customer success goals .
• Leveraging data and analytics to capture progress and key results toward team objectives. The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze information, identify implications of data, draw conclusions, generate alternatives and solutions, and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative using quality metrics and data .
• Engaging with customers and partners to understand business needs and opportunities.
• Clearly communicate product benefits to our users and internal stakeholders .
• Demonstrates and builds experiences to solve unmet user needs across divisional boundaries. Leads process of defining problems and incubating solutions for company-wide initiatives.
• Specifying, owning, and growing product features through the whole product lifecycle .
• Communicate with customers via blog posts, documentation, and engage on Open Source forums .
• Build end-to-end demos of scenarios for your developer experiences . Work with marketing/PR teams and presenting occasionally at conferences .
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- Deep technical expertise particularly related to coding and AI models/techniques, to guide product development and innovation.
- Hands-on experience driving complex partnerships and cross-Functional Collaboration, while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, leveraging customer insights to inform product decisions and ensure high levels of user satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field AND 13+ years experienc in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role.
