The **Industry Solutions Engineering** (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. We work closely with our customers' engineers to jointly innovate and develop designs for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We pride ourselves in making contributions to open source and making our platforms easier to use.
We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform. In this role, you will be working with artists, engineers, data scientists, and program managers from your team and our customers' teams to apply your skills, perspectives, and creativity to grow as developers and help solve our customers' toughest challenges.
We are hiring a **Principal Product Designer** with deep experience and expertise in designing and developing concepts that optimize the emotional and functional experience of a product, software, device, or service. With your team, you will be working side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build visual, interactive, and impactful designs. As part of our team, you will thrive in working with a variety of technologies, not just Microsoft technology.?You will solve exciting business problems, produce compelling product stories, and collaborate with Microsoft product teams.
As a part of ISE, at the AI Acceleration Studio we work closely with executives and cross-functional teams as we bring design, data science, and engineering to jointly develop cutting edge AI solutions that have high impact and can accelerate the organization. **Responsibilities**
+ You will ensure quality by leading interactions with teamswhile pushing the design agenda forward. You'll also lead the production of visual designs while overseeing the creation of a variety of visual design documents.
+ You will identify scenarios that will turn into interaction designs. You'll also direct your teams to improve product UX (user experience) through the creation of interaction models while acting as a liaison between users and products.
+ You will guide communication with cross-disciplinary teams across all stages of design and development. You will also tell a compelling, convincing product story to a variety of audiences that influences buy-in from key stakeholders.
+ You will lead collaboration with creative team members, program managers, and developers to define product features. You'll collaborate with leadership and your team to deliver product design results while also providing guidance to product designers and creating clarity for stakeholders.

**Qualifications**
**Required** **/Minimum** **Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design
+ OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design
+ OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
**Additional or Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 12+ years experience working in product or service design
+ OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design
+ OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
+ 6+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
+ Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%.
Product Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
