We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary **Principal Product Designer** to join our Consumer Ads team to drive high-impact creative experiences across our ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of user experience, visual design, branding, motion design, and storytelling across multiple platforms. While our preferred location for this position is Redmond, WA, we are open to candidates based anywhere in the United States.
**Responsibilities**
+ **Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Facilitate effective collaboration with creative team members, product managers, developers, and executive stakeholders to define, iterate, and implement new and existing ad experiences, ensuring alignment with business, technical, and user requirements.
+ **Design Excellence:** Understand the user, advertiser, and business needs to design quality, cohesive, revenue generating experiences that delight.
+ **Strategic Product Design and Prototyping** : Drive the end-to-end experience design lifecycle from conception to delivery, including schedule alignment, dependency tracking, research backing, expansive prototyping initiatives, and ensuring designs meet user needs and company standards through detailed interaction models and user experience enhancements.
+ **Compelling Communication and Storytelling:** Develop and communicate persuasive product stories to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and key stakeholders, to inspire excitement and garner support. Influence product strategy and design decisions through effective storytelling and presentation of design concepts.
+ **Build Design Culture:** Contribute to broader Microsoft AI team culture (e.g., mentorship, onboarding, team morale, employee resources groups/clubs) and lead by example for all designers.
+ **Adaptability:** Thrive in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design
+ OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design
+ OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems)
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 8+ years experience working in product or service design
+ Demonstrated sense of Interaction Design attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including accessibility and inclusive design
+ Strong Visual Design skills
+ Excellent communication and presentation / storytelling skills, with the ability to energize teams and advocate for your ideas
+ Experience designing in Figma
+ Motion Design experience
+ Experience with digital marketing and advertising
+ Experience building and maintaining a Design System

Product Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
