Become a Principal Manager of Public Affairs at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you’ll lead a regional team in the Local Public Affairs (LPA) department in Corporate Affairs (CA). This pivotal leadership role shapes and drives stakeholder engagement to achievefavorable outcomes on strategic policy priorities and major infrastructure projects. You will lead integrated public affairs teams responsible for policy analysis, grassroots advocacy, government relations, community stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and issue management across SCE's service area, in close coordination with State and Federal Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Philanthropy, Customer Service, Regulatory Affairs, and Transmission & Distribution. The position requires political acumen and expertise in external engagement strategy development, building relationships with government officials and community partners, and all other facets of public affairs. You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align execution of strategies that promote efficient capital deployment and create a favorable legislative and regulatory environment that benefits customers, shareholders, and employees.

Responsibilities
+ Leads strategic relationship building and public affairs project management across a region within the SCE service area; engages with elected city and county officials and staff, as well as tribal leaders; makes critical decisions that may impact the company's standing in the communities it serves and takes ownership of advancing key initiatives
+ Primarily educates local government officials while also engaging with state legislators and members of Congress and their staff, as well as tribal communities about the clean energy transition to advance SCE's business and policy priorities
+ Coaches, develops and manages a team engaging with key community stakeholders and makes decisions based on anticipated policy changes ensuring that the company remains ahead of a rapidly evolving energy landscape; provides guidance on the local and regional political environment to inform the company's strategic approach on key issues
+ Leads the development of integrated engagement strategies that positions the company's strategic approach with local officials, state legislators, members of Congress and tribal communities, and advances the company's role on significant energy issues; directs the public affairs team in resolving escalated issues and proactively educating stakeholders about key priorities, including managing public involvement for major infrastructure projects
+ Represents the company at local and regional events to build and strengthen external relationships in alignment with integrated engagement strategies, considering emerging trends across the business and political landscape, industry shifts, and organizational objectives
+ Leads advocacy for policies that advance grid modernization, clean energy, the environment and sustainability while favorably shaping the policy-making environment, including through building partnerships and coalitions with external stakeholders
+ A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
+ Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
+ Experience working in a public and/or government affairs discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, Government, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
+ Seven or more years of experience leading a team of direct reports.
+ Seven or more years of experience in public affairs, government relations, public policy, or a related field.
+ Strong understanding of energy policies and regulations, particularly in the State of California.
+ Experience in the energy industry is highly desirable.
+ Strong planner and organizer with superior project management skills.
+ Strong business judgment, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to interact with all company levels, maintaining tact and diplomacy.
+ Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
+ Agile, with a sense of urgency and the ability to work under pressure on multiple projects.

Additional Information
+ This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

+ Position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
