Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.
Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.

**Responsibilities**
Seeking a Senior System Engineer to join the Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) team for implementation and management of lab test and infrastructure systems, supporting product development efforts for Oracle Linux, OVM, Cloud, Solaris, and Engineered Systems teams. MAA provides a wide range of on-premise lab and cloud based services to support these product development teams, including deployment and management of the servers, storage, networking, layered infrastructure and applications services on which they depend. A successful candidate will have a broad range of technical skills and experience in the areas of Unix systems and network administration (particularly expertise in Oracle Linux and hardware), strong teamwork, communications, and project management skills. Automation skills and cloud experience strongly preferred. This role is responsible for the support of Oracle internal lab on-premise and in-cloud resources, complex problem resolution (sometimes involving integration and support of a range of Oracle and third party technologies), learning new hardware platforms and related peripherals, creating and improving operational standards, procedures, and documentation, and the development of automation to improve reliability and ease-of-use of lab services and efficiency of routine systems administration tasks, using agile DevOps methodologies and cloud native solutions. Required Skills * Extensive medium to large scale Linux Systems Administration experience * Extensive experience installing and configuring Linux, esp., Oracle Linux * Kickstart, Jumpstart, and PXE boot configuration and administration * Strong understanding of NFS, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, and LDAP services * Experience with network device installation and network administration (Cisco, Arista or Juniper) * Fiber Channel, iSCSI, or Infiniband administration experience * Experience with OVM, KVM, or other OS virtualization solutions * Experience installing and managing x86 and SPARC based systems, especially Oracle servers and storage, such as: * - X3-X9, T4-T7, M4000-M8000, ZFSSA and clusters (Exadata, Exalogic, ODA, BDA, Exalytics and other Engineered Systems, a plus) * Mid-level+ scripting/programming skills to automate routine SA tasks (using, e.g., Python, Ansible, Go, Perl, C, Shell) * Ability to conceive and manage lab infrastructure upgrade projects * Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills, work with new tools, and discover new and innovative approaches to solving complex technical challenges * Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and informatively to senior level developers and managers Preferred Skills * Administration of Solaris and other UNIX OS variants * Experience configuring both on-prem and cloud resources via code. (IaC) * Configuration management experience - using tools like: Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, and Chef * Use of Ansible for system installation * Cloud experience and/or certification (Oracle, AWS, Azure, Google, etc.) * IaaS, SaaS, or NaaS Oracle Cloud configuration experience * Administration and use of code repository solutions, such as: GIT, SVN, or Perforce * Experience in designing and implementation of continuous integration, continuous delivery, continuous deployment through Jenkins. * Worked on installation of Docker. Created custom Docker container images, tagging and pushing the images. * Experience supporting ARM and AMD platforms * DevOps and or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience * Oracle DB, Oracle MySQL or other database administration skills Preferred qualifications BS or MS degree in CS or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
