The Principal Income Tax Accountant will play a key role in managing KinderCare's tax functions, including preparing quarterly and annual tax provisions and federal return, analyzing tax data, and supervising state return compliance. This role involves working closely with third-party state tax return preparers and internal teams to ensure accurate tax filings and provision-to-return reconciliations. Growth opportunities are available in M&A and tax planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and analyze quarterly and annual income tax provisions
- Monitor tax law changes and update reports accordingly
- Lead all aspects of state and local income tax compliance
- Prepare federal return and provision to return true-up reconciliation and analysis
- Assist in tax research and special projects
- Communicate with federal, state, and local tax authorities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years of tax accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment
- Strong experience preparing federal corporate income tax returns
- Proficiency in CorpTax software for provisions and compliance is desirable
- Understanding of multi-state corporate income tax filings
- Ability to work independently and meet statutory deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- College degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Confident in conducting tax research
