The Opportunity
This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA office in the Heart Failure Division. Leading an active lifestyle is important to the many people we serve. In Abbott’s Heart Failure division, we’re advancing the treatment of heart and vascular disease through breakthrough medical technologies in heart failure (HF), allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
The Principal FP&A Financial Analyst provides financial planning, analysis and reporting to management for the Heart Failure (HF) business unit. Performs analysis and review of operating results. Assists with monthly financial closing activities, as well as preparing financial models, ad hoc analysis, and presentations supporting the quarterly LBE (latest best estimate) forecasting cycles.
What You’ll Work On
- Perform financial planning and analysis activities for the HF business unit, which may include any combination of the following areas: budgeting and forecasting, profit and loss, market modeling, sales analysis, business development, gross margin, capital, exchange, price volume variance, headcount and other facets of the complete HF P&L.
- Perform month-end close activities including detailed analysis on monthly variances vs LBE in close collaboration with Geo FP&A teams.
- Develop flexible, comprehensive tools and templates to support the consolidation and timely completion of corporate schedules as well as develop system solutions and process improvements that meet the needs of the financial planning and/or reporting requirements
- Maintain an effective and efficient planning process for the division and functional areas being supported, including the coordination of a planning calendar with key dates and deliverables
- Partner with key geographies to consolidate month-end, LBE, Plan analysis and commentary related to the respective financial cycle
- Prepare consolidated reporting, presentations, and analysis for quarterly LBE cycles.
- Participate in ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by finance management.
- Provide routine reports to management based on knowledge of finance systems and knowledge of the HF business.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- 5 to 8 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of the principles, processes and standards for integral financial analysis and reporting
- Proficiency working with MS Office Suite: Excel and PowerPoint; must have strong proficiency with relevant financial systems applications.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EssBase (Dodeca) and Hyperion/ Pillar budgeting software a plus
- Power BI experience a bonus.

The base pay for this position is $98,000.00 – $196,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
