Talent Depot is partnering with a leading environmental consulting firm to find a highly skilled Principal Environmental Project Manager. This position focuses on managing the technical and operational aspects of complex environmental projects, including site investigation, soil and groundwater remediation, and other environmental services.
Position Overview:
As the Principal Environmental Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting and leading various phases of environmental projects. This includes planning, executing, supervising, and documenting field activities for complex remediation and construction initiatives involving contaminated soil and groundwater treatment. You’ll be responsible for project management, staff oversight, proposal development, budget analysis, and report finalization, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Project Management: Lead the technical aspects of site investigation, soil/groundwater remediation, and other environmental projects.
- Project Support Activities: Prepare work plans and proposals, manage resources, set schedules, track deadlines, analyze budgets, and finalize reports.
- Staff Supervision: Manage daily activities of project/site staff, providing direction and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Apply in-depth knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory programs, specifically in Michigan (knowledge of Ohio and Indiana regulations is a plus).
- Field Documentation: Oversee documentation of all field activities, including remediation and construction work.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or Hydrogeology.
- Experience: 10+ years in scoping, costing, and managing site investigation, remediation, or construction projects, with strong client management skills.
- Technical Expertise: Mastery of relevant SOPs and regulatory standards, with willingness to learn other state programs as needed.
- Licensing & Certification: Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license preferred; familiarity with Michigan regulatory programs (MI LUST, TPR, Brownfields, Orphan Well Program, NEPA).
- Industry Involvement: Active membership or participation in industry-specific professional organizations is preferred.
- Safety Compliance: Completion of annual OSHA HAZWOPER training; ability to wear PPE as required.
