As a Principal Engineer - Semiconductor at Watlow, you will play a vital role in the development and redesign of Aluminum Nitride pedestal solutions for our world leading semiconductor customers. This dynamic role is not just about engineering; it's about building relationships, identifying opportunities for product redesigns and upgrades, product and process development, ensuring functionality, and coordinating with other functions to meet our customers' challenges.

About the Role
As a Principal Engineer - Semiconductor at Watlow, you will play a vital role in the development and redesign of Aluminum Nitride pedestal solutions for our world leading semiconductor customers. This dynamic role is not just about engineering; it's about building relationships, identifying opportunities for product redesigns and upgrades, product and process development, ensuring functionality, and coordinating with other functions to meet our customers' challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ceramic Bonding: Developing new technology by creating scalable processes of ceramic to metal bonding at high temperature.
- Product Opportunity Discovery: Collaborate with teams to identify product improvement opportunities.
- Process Discovery: Partner with our manufacturing teams to ensure that the final product can be built to the highest quality standards and delivered on time.
- Product Test Plans: Develop and perform product test plans to validate pedestal functionality.
- Technical Documentation: Generate / review comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and design specifications.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay at the forefront of technology by actively researching and incorporating the latest advancements in hardware development.
- Relationship Building: Develop and nurture strong relationships with key customers both internal and external.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in field of specialization, master's or PhD
- 10 years of experience related to mechanical and material sciences.
- Experience with team leadership and development of a small team of <10
- Proficient in understanding of material responses (e.g.: oxidation, deformation) machining, surface thermal.
- Basic knowledge of Vacuum Brazing experience: Liquidous, TLP-transient liquid phase, and diffusion
- Deposition application knowledge in CVD, ALD, PECVD, etc.
- Proficient in understanding designs of experiments and process development
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exhibit these qualifications and provide guidance to team
- Development and presentation of technical materials for internal and external customers
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in Process Development for metal deposition, sputtering, ceramics bonding, grinding, surface preparation, micro-blasting
- Knowledge and experience in pedestal design and development
