Position SUMMARY \
\
The Principal Engineer serves as the senior technical member of an engineering team. The position will work across multiple disciplines to deliver Infrastructure products and services to the organization that scale efficiently while improving performance and minimizing costs. \
\
The Principal Engineer will work to coordinate strategies, create standards, pilot new capabilities, build and design automated workflows, and connect multiple services or product lines within the organization. As a thought leader for the team the Principal Engineer will work with peers to ensure technology systems and services standards are adopted, implemented, and kept up to date. This will require the principal engineer to have a strong background in design and implementation of infrastructure, software, applications, and security. The position will require experience and strong knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologies to deliver information services in an efficient and repeatable manner. \
\
The Principal Engineer works with customers, stakeholders, analysts, architects, and other engineers to troubleshoot and find root cause of technology and security defects. They need to be excellent team players and have demonstrated experience across multiple systems, knowledge of numerous scripting languages, and the ability to rapidly automate solutions.\
\
Primary Accountabilities \
\
1.Develop the strategy for enterprise network architecture and network services to support data, voice, video, telephony, and other network dependent technologies \
\
2.Develop and maintain detailed documentation including bill of material configurations, logical workflows, development requirements, IT requirements, and architectural documentation for change implementation and ongoing reference\
\
3.Key player in the architecture, design, and implementation of full life cycle network infrastructure project integrations\
\
4.Perform analysis and diagnosis of complex data network issues\
\
5.Work and collaborate with project teams consisting of Enterprise Architects, Engineers, client resources, contract resources, and 3rd party vendors to develop tactical plans that include strategy and fiscal requirements, while maximizing benefits and avoiding operational disruptions.\
\
6.Owns architectural evolution of our IDN network infrastructure to include use of internal facilities, the facilities of 3rd party service providers, and all required technologies to enable unified operations throughout the IDN\
\
7.Adheres to all regulatory and certification guidelines including HIPAA, state and Federal Guidelines, and others as communicated through management.\
\
8.Responsible for analysis and identification of network infrastructure technology risks with impact to the business.\
\
9.Participates in Health First approved educational programs and activities related to our mission to keep abreast of current trends, best practices, and new developments in network infrastructure technology as they relate to specific job responsibilities.\
\
10.Ensures that we develop and maintain an industry-leading network infrastructure technology architecture and implementation which can rapidly scale to meet operational needs, business demand, and customer service expectations\
\
11.Oversees the establishment of appropriate work processes to support successful business operations and efficient, cost-effective administration\
\
12.Evaluate cost savings technical alternatives and recommendations\
\
13.Monitors utilization trends, manages network performance, and assures maximum uptime -performs ongoing analysis, capacity planning, and technical tuning of the network systems to improve performance and reduce cost \
\
14.Provide on call support for technology outages and changes due to peak times, holidays, etc.\
\

Qualifications \
\
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS \
\
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field\
\
Certification: Professional Level Certification in Networking\
\
Work Experience: 10 years of experience in integration of network infrastructure technologies\
\
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: \
\
Deep and broad experience with Network design/planning for enterprise networks\
\
Experience with virtualization and cloud delivery of underlying computing platforms\
\
Experience working in regulated business environments\
\
7+ years architecture, design, deployment, configuration, and integrating peripheral systems.\
\
Strong customer facing skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills (technical documentation and client communication)\
\
\
\
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS \
\
\
Education: Masters Degree in Information Technology or related field\
\
Certification: Expert Level Certification in Networking\
\
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: \
\
OSI Layer 1, 2 & 3 troubleshooting skills \
\
Strong TCP/IP knowledge \
\
Knowledge of various routing protocols (SIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, etc) \
\
Knowledge of Cisco IOS commands\
\
Knowledge and experience with Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco Firewalls, IPS, IDS, Proxies\
\
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others.\
\
Ability to work tactfully and effectively with team members, vendor(s) and the user community.\
\
Highly organized, motivated, responsible self-starter, with excellent time management, analytical and research & problem-solving skills.\
\
Advanced skills in conducting a fit/gap analysis\
\
Advanced organizational skills are essential\
\
Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously\
\
Builds expert knowledge in more than one area and conveys knowledge to others\
\
