We are currently seeking candidates for a Principal Engineer (Geotechnical Engineering) for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice, located in New York, NY, Houston, TX, Bellevue, WA, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Natick, MA or Atlanta, GA. You will have a significant role in developing business and expanding the practice in this technical and geographic area.
You will be responsible for:- Identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities and promoting Exponent through industry contacts
- Significantly contributing to increasing Exponent's civil and geotechnical engineering consulting efforts
- Providing strategic consulting and expert witness work
- Bringing advanced and insightful solutions to clients in your recognized areas of expertise
- Providing project management and project budget oversight
- Developing and mentoring staff in both technical and business areas
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering plus 15 years of experience
- Significant business development experience with a proven track record
- Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
- A record of professional papers and presentations and a proven record of dedication to quality and accuracy
- Current licensed professional civil engineer in at least one state with ability to become licensed in multiple other states

Compensation:Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
