Learn more about Medtronic benefits and compensation at the bottom of this job description.The Core R&D group within Medtronic’s Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health Operating Units in Rice Creek, Minnesota, is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer with electromagnetic computational Modeling and Simulation (M&S) experience for MR safety of Medical Devices.

We need your help to make this happen.As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will work with a team of Engineers and Technicians to develop and bring new products to the market.
The primary focus of this role will be to conduct a M&S based MR safety assessment for implantable devices such as Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation.
MR safety development includes knowledge of MRI Standards for Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs), model verification and validation in accordance with V&V40 or other standards, in-vivo testing and testing at commercial MRI scanners, data analysis, technical reviews, and report writing.
You will take ownership of every aspect of M&S based MR safety assessment for Implantable Neurostimulators.
You will have responsibility to innovate, apply technical expertise, and provide technical leadership to a team of Electrical Engineers and Technicians.Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Provide technical leadership on M&S based MR safety development and test for Implantable Medical DevicesProvide electrical and Radiofrequency (RF) engineering skills to design, develop, characterize, and verify MR safety in new product designsFundamental understanding of MR induced RF, gradient, and static fields, and associated MR safety design for Implantable Medical DevicesWork closely with other Engineers and Technicians to verify and validate multiphysics based Medical Device and lead heating modelsAnalysis of product performance using DFSS techniquesDesign and execute test methods to characterize MR safety and verify adherence to standards, product, and systems requirementsValidate test environments comprising custom RF equipment, software, and test methodsInterface with certified test houses to verify/certify to global regulatory standards including ISO 14708-3, ISO/TS 10974, IEC 60601-2-33, etc.Work under minimal supervisionEnsure understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable.
