Description
As a Principal Design Engineer at Impulse Space, you will own all aspects of and provide outstanding technical contribution to hardware design from concept to product realization while working closely with a fast paced, agile team.
Responsibilities
- Own all aspects of hardware design from concept to product realization
- Directly create and maintain large, top-level assemblies ensuring proper configuration management
- Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Ensure every design meets intent
- Work with the team and external sources to procure materials, fabricate parts, and complete assemblies
- Mentor other engineers and define company best practices in design and manufacturing
- Resolve technical issues with innovative resourceful solutions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related for science
- 10+ years of experience in design, analysis, and/or manufacturing type roles
- Proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Familiarity with a wide set of manufacturing processes such as machining, additive, welding, forming, etc.
- Capable of performing basic structural and thermal analysis in support of design
- Demonstrated ability in conceptual design, fabrication and testing of hardware
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in high performance, cost and mass optimized hardware design
- Prior experience in liquid rocket propulsion development and/or testing
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
