What you’ll be doing

The Artificial Intelligence & Data (AI&D) Organization is an exciting center of excellence supporting all of Verizon. Our team will be a catalyst to Verizon's future in creating networks that move the world forward through the power of Artificial Intelligence & Data. You will be a strategic thinker joining a high profile, high visibility team that powers analytics and strategic thinking for Verizon.

You will be part of a team that builds tools, analyses, and insights that inform, quantify, and enable the visualization of data to drive business decisions for all of Verizon’s Networks. With your analytical, big data, and reporting expertise, you will deliver business value through business intelligence reporting and analytics by driving insights to actions. One way you will accomplish this is by developing analytical views of data utilizing various BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, and web-based applications. You’ll also connect various data locations to stage data before visualizations. The business insights and recommendations you provide will help to improve Verizon’s performance.

1. Performing ad-hoc analysis and developing reproducible analytical approaches to meet business requirements.
2. Performing exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics and other methods.
3. Performing geospatial analyses and creating geospatial visualizations to respond to business requests.
4. Presenting results and recommendations to senior management and business users.
5. Strategizing, coordinating, detailing, resource planning, and defining scope on multiple projects with evolving timelines in various stages of completion.
6. Leading collaboration with business leads and other Verizon teams to execute all visual design phases from concept and requirements to final hand-off to business unit end-users.
7. Conducting and ensuring user acceptance testing for database and applications prior to production release to include software testing, quality assurance, and solution certification and approval.
8. Establishing and promoting our brand standards and best practices across business units.
9. Detailing and demonstrating solutions by developing wireframes, production documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and models.
10. Reviewing existing visualizations to assess existing opportunities for improvement within the business and to drive an outstanding User Interface solution.

What we’re looking for

With an eye towards improving performance and predictability, you like the science of analytics. Developing resolutions to complex problems, using your sharp judgment to develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria allows you to deliver solutions that make a huge impact. You’re able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, and you take pride in your ability to share your considerable knowledge with your peers.

You’ll need to have:

1. A Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
2. Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
3. Experience applying statistical ideas and methods to data sets to answer business problems.
4. Experience with visual science/dashboard design principles.
5. Experience with programming in Python, R, or a similar language.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

1. Degree in business intelligence and analytics, computer science, or mathematics.
2. Master’s degree.
3. Experience with geospatial analytics.
4. Basic understanding of wireless and wireline network fundamentals.
5. Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
6. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Plotly.
7. Experience with building and deploying data science solutions at scale.
8. Strong understanding of data science.
9. Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL/geospatial tools.
10. Working knowledge of Data Engineering techniques.
11. Proven ability to present complex or technical topics in an engaging way.
12. Experience with natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialized data science domains.
13. Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
14. Familiarity with data engineering and data management tools and processes.
15. Strong understanding of data ethics and privacy regulations.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum of eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
