Principal AI EngineerJob SummaryThe Principal AI Engineer plays a key role in architecting and developing AI solutions in diagnostic medical image processing for Hologic products. The position requires an intensive, diversified knowledge of data science, machine learning, and engineering principles. The successful candidate is expected to carry out projects with a high degree of creativity and independent activity.
He/she may evaluate the feasibility of projects and counsel others about aspects of projects related to this specialized knowledge.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop machine learning algorithms for medical image processing, primarily in whole slide imaging of cytology and pathology specimens.Analyze, assess, and integrate third-party partner AI technologies into Hologic products when appropriate. Assist the leadership team with creating a coherent diagnostic AI product offering incorporating Hologic-developed and third-party applications.Work with cross-functional teams on the design, validation, documentation, clinical testing, and regulatory approvals of AI products.Propose and help implement the best engineering and research processes, tools, and standards for AI development.Contribute to and influence the AI development infrastructure framework.Contribute to the cross-functional team setting the AI product roadmap.Advise leaders on technology, strategy, and policy issues related to AI/ML.QualificationsExpertise in deep learning model architecture and trainingKnowledge and strong skills with ML programming tools and libraries such as Python, Tensorflow / Keras, PyTorch, etc.Knowledge of the ML development lifecycle and management of datasets, code and model versionsAbility to provide technical leadership on a projectFamiliarity with quality and regulatory frameworks for AI is highly desirableAbility to communicate effectively and constructivelyStrong written communication skills and interpersonal skillsExperience / Education5+ years of experience in machine learning / AI and software developmentMaster’s degree or higher in machine learning, artificial intelligence, software engineering or a related fieldExperience in medical applications is strongly preferred.Experience working in an FDA regulated environment preferred.The annualized base salary range for this role is $146,300 to $205,100 and is bonus eligible.
