- Under the supervision and oversight of the Chief Hospice Administrative Officer, the President is responsible for and is charged with operating the day to day operations of the Hospice Program and affiliates in the service area.
- Acts as a liaison between the Board, the staff and the community.
- The President promotes and facilitates collaboration and communication with each other and other leaders, in the service of our Mission, Vision and Values.
- Assists the Empath leaders in the aggressive and successful growth of the company.
- The President provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength, quality care and operating efficiency.
- The president is also responsible for assuring State and Federal regulatory compliance
- Promotes and practices the Empath Hospice Division mission, vision, and values and follows policies and procedures of the organization.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities, effectively communicating throughout the organization. Analyzes and identifies areas for improvement, demonstrating practical, innovative means to problem solving and critical thinking.
- Establish positive working relationships with providers and the community at large and serves as the “Executive Face” of the Hospice Division and affiliates in all communities served.
- Senior executive representative for Hospice program, engaged in outreach, events, activities in all communities. Promotes community awareness and maintains productive relationships with referral sources and community leaders
- Works effectively with the Board of Directors, including providing executive presentations at board meetings keeping them informed of the Division and affiliate strategic goals, objectives, and key results; providing updates of industry trends; key organizational issues; quality and service performance; and material activities.
- In collaboration with Empath’s Chief Hospice Officer, represents the Hospice affiliates on a local, state, and national level, including with policy makers, regulators, elected officials, and various associations, such as FHPCA and NHPCO.
- Serve as the primary hospice senior executive representative for volunteer meetings and events, including presentations at annual Volunteer Town Halls, appreciation events, and educational programs.
- Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.
- Lead, supervise and evaluate direct reports’ performance.
- Ensure that job responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct reports are defined and understood.
- In collaboration with the Vice President of Organizational Excellence and Compliance, responsible for maintaining compliance with all State and Federal requirements.
- In collaboration with the Medical Director, monitor medical services to ensure provision of quality care to patients.
- Oversee and assist in the development and implementation of the organization's Strategic Plan .Achieves Organizational goals in quality patient care, employee satisfaction, census, revenue and net income through outcome measurement and continuous improvement of internal and external processes.
- Responsible for the financial accountability of the hospice and responsible for the development of the organization’s annual operating and capital budget and meeting projected financial benchmarks.
- Plan for and administer the managerial, operational, fiscal and reporting components of the program .Participates in the preparation of an annual operating budget to achieve organizational objectives in conjunction with all support and strategic unit managers. Responsible for all financial management for the hospice including budget adherence, expense approvals, billings and payroll approvals. Reviews and interprets monthly financial statements, and takes appropriate corrective action in response to variances and trends.
- Recommend and implement operational policies, procedures and protocols for direct patient care and support services.
- Monitor the growth of care delivery and services as the patient census grows and make adjustments in planning as needed to maintain established growth and service goals.
- Meet goals for target census.
- Accountable for quality of services provided.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of compliance with staffing guidelines.
- Participate in and oversee the quality assurance/quality improvement committees as part of the overall quality improvement program.
- Motivates and leads a high performing management team; attracts, recruits and retains required members of the executive team not currently in place; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program. Initiates and directs the recruitment, development and retention of qualified personnel. Ensures that staffing levels are monitored and maintained. Builds a quality culture which attracts, develops and retains talented employees
- On a rotational basis, provide evening and weekend on-call administrative coverage.
- Other duties as requested.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required in; nursing, healthcare or business administration, marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Licensure: For Nursing Degree- Registered Nurse required– currently licensed in the State of Florida
- Minimum of five to seven years of progressive Hospice or Health Care executive level administrative experience with emphasis on business planning, organizational development, financial and human resources management.
- Must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion.
- Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
