Are you seeking a part time Prep Cook position with a team that puts Hospitality first? The prep cook is responsible for the preparation of all food items using standardized recipes.
Shift and Schedule: part-time non-exempt position. 2pm-7:30pm, Monday and Wednesday one week and Monday, Thursday, and Friday the other week with rotating weekends and some holidays.
Essential Duties:
1. Assist in preparing all soup, stocks, sauces; boils, braises, and roasts items using standardized recipes.
2. Prepare cold side station, following workflow, production sheet, and standardized recipes.
3. Assist in preparing all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items using standardized recipes.
4. Assist in the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders. Ensure that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
5. Determines amount and type of cold side food supplies required for daily menus and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
6. Assists cooks in the preparation of basic dessert items as well as breakfast, and employee lunches.
7. Assist in putting away stock, washing dishes, sweeping and mopping floors and taking trash out.
8. Follows all federal, state and local health department regulation when handling food.
9. Observes all safety rules and regulations.
10. HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.
11. OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.
12. Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.
Other Duties:
1. Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
2. Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
3. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
4. Follow workflow and complete any other task assigned by supervisor.
5. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
2. Successful completion of ServSafe certification course, within one year of being hired.
3. Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
4. Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
5. Compliance with North Oaks Immunization Requirements.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Moderate to heavy physical effort needed infrequently. Manual dexterity for preparing food. Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. independently. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals. Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with others.
