Job Brief: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team at Yamashiro Hollywood. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of ingredients, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Your role is vital in ensuring a smooth and efficient operation in our culinary department.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, such as washing, chopping, and measuring, according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Follow established procedures to prepare and assemble food items, including soups, sauces, salads, and vegetable dishes.
- Stock and rotate inventory, ensuring the availability of ingredients, supplies, and utensils for the kitchen team.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of food, equipment, and utensils.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of perishable items.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of food items during service hours.
- Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries, ensuring quality and accuracy of products.
- Follow instructions from the chef or kitchen supervisor to assist in various tasks, such as prepping for events or special menu items.
- Support the kitchen team during service hours by assisting in plating dishes, garnishing, and ensuring proper presentation.
Skills Required:
- Proven experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques, including knife skills and various cooking methods.
- Familiarity with proper food handling and safety procedures, including knowledge of HACCP guidelines.
- Ability to work efficiently and multitask in a high-pressure environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, track supplies, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the culinary team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the operational needs.
- Culinary training or certification from a reputable institution is a plus, but not mandatory.
