Position Summary:
As a Prep Cook at Mesero, you will be responsible for maintaining fresh ingredients, preparing authentic recipes and sauces while maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen. Working with the chef and line cooks to help create the flavorful dishes our guests know and love. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food, enjoy working in, and a team environment and looking to learn and grow in the culinary field.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and portion ingredients, including chopping vegetables, stewing meats, preparing sauces, and other prep work required.
- Follow recipe guidelines and standards to ensure consistency in food preparation.
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, properly sanitized, and stocked throughout service hours.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down kitchen stations before and after shifts.
- Support line cooks by ensuring all necessary ingredients and supplies are ready for meal service.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
- Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of ingredients and supplies and communicate any shortages to the chef.
- Help with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper handling and storage of food items.
- Ensure all items are properly stored and labeled
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the overall success of the kitchen team.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a prep cook or kitchen support role is preferred but not required.
- Up to date certifications required by state regulations
- Ability to follow recipes and directions, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, including knife skills and safe handling of ingredients.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent, high-quality food.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
