About the Position:
In this role you will:
- Aid in the production of daily prep and assembly lists.
- Prep, wash, and cook vegetables.
- Cook off pastas, beans, meats, rice, and other items as needed.
- Assemble compound salads, make soups, make cold case items (ex. meatloaf, lasagnas, salmon cakes etc.), and will be responsible for packaging and labeling necessary items.
- Be expected to both execute and develop recipes for these items.
- Be responsible for general kitchen cleaning (sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, etc).
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of culinary experience.
- Flexible availability.
- Willingness to ask questions and continually learn about our store and our industry.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to provide and receive feedback to grow and develop you and your team.
- ?Must present a favorable image of Pilgrim's Market through contacts with customers, vendors, co-workers, other business associates and the general public.
- Be able to safely handle commonly known food allergens including but not limited to: wheat, dairy, fish, shellfish, eggs, nuts, peanuts.
- Ability to utilize proper kitchen safety etiquette (ex. announcing presence when "behind", "hot", "sharp", etc.)
- Ability to safely lift up to 20lbs above head for stocking.
- Ability safely lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks that engage the use of arms, shoulders, wrists, hands, back- potentially for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move swiftly, crouch, reach forward, and twist.
- Ability to safely execute basic knife skills.
- Ability to work on your feet for the entire shift.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and loud environments for extended periods of time as needed.
- Ability to comply with all Idaho laws and department standards regarding food safety and sanitation.
- Ability to work independently, with a sense of urgency, and maintain composure in a high paced environment.
- Vision of, or corrected to 20/20
- Operate (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: phone and intercom system, automated slicer, oven, smoker, range top, fryers, food processor, emersion blender, dishwasher, flattop grill, blenders, juicer, tilt skillet, blast chiller, steamer, labeling scale, knives, box cutter.
