The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, measuring portions, marinating meats, and other tasks as directed by the chef or kitchen manager.
- Ingredient Management: Ensure all ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated according to safety and freshness guidelines.
- Station Organization: Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times, ensuring all equipment, utensils, and ingredients are easily accessible.
- Assisting Cooks: Support line cooks and chefs by prepping dishes according to the daily menu, following recipes and portion control specifications.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Keep prep areas clean and sanitized, following food safety regulations. Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils as needed.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report shortages or excesses to the kitchen manager or head chef.
- Quality Control: Ensure all ingredients and prepared food meet quality standards for appearance, taste, and consistency.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation of food preparation and cooking processes.
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment preferred, but not required.
- Skills:
- Ability to follow directions and learn new skills quickly.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring dexterity and mobility.
- Comfortable working in hot and noisy environments.
- Culinary school or training is a plus.
- Knowledge of specific cuisines or cooking techniques relevant to the restaurant's menu.
- Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen tools and equipment.
- Fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment.
- Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required, based on the restaurant's hours of operation.
