About the Position
This individual must have a positive, outgoing, and engaging personality with strong communication and presentation skills. Must be able to use strong personal, presentation, and technical skills on prospect calls to demo and articulate technical products to uncover the business needs and quantify those needs. This individual will utilize their IT technical background, key analytics, and integration skills to partner with Sales and function as the key technical point of contact for cloud and software sales. The objective is to provide pre-sales support contributing towards the successful conversion of prospects to customers.
A significant portion of the Sales Engineer role includes participating on sales calls as the technical resource scoping technical requirements for proposals, performing security assessments, and gathering server and integration requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Sales Representative as the technical resource to close new business opportunities by assisting in the sales process, presentations, and meeting to uncover the customers business needs and quantity those needs.
- Provide strategic pre-sales support for sales activities including needs analysis, technology reviews, requirements definitions, and proof-of-concept scoping.
- Working with customers and prospects in defining, and executing Proof of Concepts by conducting needs analysis, data acquisition and transformation, data loading, conversion analysis and server/integration requirements.
- Create and deliver product presentations and demonstrations to meet prospects, customers, or internal needs as the technical expert for your product lines.
- Conduct proof-of-concept projects in a competitive environment.
- Become an expert in our products’ features, benefits, and applications to customer needs.
- Communicate via phone, online video meetings, in-person meetings, and email with prospects guiding them through the evaluation and selection process.
- Be the customer advocate and liaison for product management and development.
- Perform research and stay current on all company product lines, competitive products, and new technical trends and technologies in the industry.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years IT professional experience
- Experience in a pre-sales engineering role, or possess the required personal and communication skills
- Must have a positive attitude

- Ability to ask probing questions in a conversational manner
- Display ability to think critically through issues to identify an appropriate solution
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills that traverse from executive to technical levels.
- Maintain a role of ethics and honesty
- Previous cloud and cyber security experience
- Previous virtual desktop experience with knowledge of printing, thin clients, networking, and sizing applications and computing resources
- Knowledge in sizing third-party applications for private virtual servers and a virtual desktop environment.
- High-level understanding of the following Microsoft products: Server, RDP, Hyper-V, Windows, Office 365 Enterprise suites, SQL, etc.
- High-level understanding of cybersecurity: Firewalls, data encryption, intrusion protection, endpoints, antivirus, ransomware, email security and encryption, mobile protection, web and application security. Experience with Sopho is a plus.
- Sound understanding of ETL Best Practices/Methodologies, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language (SQL) skills, data warehouse, reporting techniques, and custom reporting using SSRS
- BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related experience.
- Experience in the legal, or accounting industry is a bonus
