Pre-Litigation Team Lead
Career Consulting Partners has formed a partnership with one of the most successful injury firms in the state of California. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Prelitigation Team Lead to oversee a team of case managers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in personal injury law, particularly in the prelitigation phase, and will possess strong leadership and organizational skills. This role involves ensuring that all cases are handled efficiently, meeting deadlines, and providing the highest level of client service. This is a hybrid position out of our office in Downtown Los Angeles near the fashion district. This position will report to the Supervising Attorney.
Primary duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage 3-6 case managers;
- Meet with the Supervising Attorney to conduct regular file reviews;
- Assist and direct case managers with day-to-day management of medical treatment of pre-litigation matters;
- Assist case managers, as needed, in negotiating pre-litigation settlements;
- Conduct monthly file reviews with each team member;
- Review and edit demands written by the demand team;
- Responsible for the medical management of all assigned PI matters, including reviewing all medical reports and medical recommendations by treating medical providers;
- Be involved in medical management of “commercial cases.” Avoid Sub-Outs!
- Be available to assigned Case Managers for guidance, supervision, and assistance.
- Complete intro call for new client(s) within one week of case assignment.
- Look over every single new case coming to your Pod.
- Issue spot and write early To-Dos for Case Managers.
- Including ruling in or out gov entities, statue of limitations, loss of consortium, NIED, loss of consciousness, Glasgow scale, MRIs, radiculopathy, the severity of biomechanics, reaching out to additional injured parties in the same accident, etc.
- Work with the assigned Case Manager on all of the above, etc.
- Assist Case Managers with any client problems or potential problems.
- Assist Medical Records Coordinators and Medical Liens Negotiators as needed.
- Make an informed decision about when a file is ready for demand (broken bone; discharge paperwork; third party 15/30, residuals, additional medical work-up needed, etc.)
- If a third party fails to tender policy limits within the time frame provided, you must communicate to the Managing Attorney and review for open policy considerations.
- Settle the cases in your Pod with the adjustor and client.
- Obtain release(s) from the insurance company and review the release.
- Make sure we are releasing the correct parties, not waiving UIM, nor restitution where applicable, and if PD is outstanding that release does not include PD claims.
- On a policy limits tender case, a Declaration of No Additional Insurance (DNAI) and Dec page must be obtained from the tendering third-party insurance co. along with an asset search against any responsible third party(ies).
- Review the breakdown and medical roster for accuracy.
- Obtain the signature of the Client on breakdown and release. You may use a Case Manager to assist.
- Assist Intakes Dept. with Under Reviews, when available.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal injury law, with a focus on prelitigation.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role within a legal setting is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of personal injury law and prelitigation processes.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Proficiency in legal case management software.
- Reliably commute to or planning to relocate to Los Angeles, CA (90010).
- Spanish Bilingual required
