About the Role
As the Pre-Construction Project Manager, you'll be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities across designated projects. You'll play a key role in aligning our pre-construction team with project objectives and ensuring every step, from initial review to material procurement, is strategically executed. You'll work closely with both internal teams and external partners, maintaining open communication channels to troubleshoot and optimize project workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations for assigned projects, ensuring goals are met on time and within budget.
- Pre-Construction Review: Analyze project requirements to identify how pre-construction can add value. Review job specifications and develop required HVAC and plumbing matrices.
- Material & Procurement Coordination: Generate material submittals, track long-lead items, and oversee procurement to align with the buyout plan and meet scheduled dates.
- Turnover Meetings: Conduct project turnover meetings to ensure all team members are aligned on project goals, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Systems Management: Set up and maintain project specifications and submittals within Procore, updating systems as necessary to reflect Comfort Systems USA Southwest standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce company safety protocols, empower teams to stop unsafe work, and promote a proactive safety culture on every project.
Who We're Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have a strong foundation in construction management, particularly in HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal work. You're detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and bring a high level of professionalism to every project. You're a self-starter with a knack for solving complex problems, handling multiple responsibilities, and communicating effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 6-10 years of progressive experience in construction management.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting project information and responding to questions from clients, managers, and stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret specifications, calculate project costs, and identify areas for efficiency and improvement.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical Activity: Occasionally required to sit, talk, and hear. Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Work Environment: Regular exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, and sometimes high or precarious locations. The noise level can occasionally be loud. Safety gear and adherence to company protocols are mandatory.
